How to set an Eco-Drive Sentry [edit]
The English-language instructions for setting Eco-Drive watches are close to incomprehensible. Here are instructions for one particular model - BL5XXX - that probably agree for similar Eco-Drive watches. This particular model has three small dials in add-on to the chief face, two buttons and a stalk. Its functionality includes an alarm clock, a chronograph (i.e., terminate watch) and a perpetual agenda.
Hither is how these instructions will refer to the various elements of the lookout:
Main Face: The place where the main minute, hour and 2d easily are.
Punch A: The upper left small-scale dial numbered up to 24. Underneath it says "Chronograph" and "Alert"
Dial B: The upper right modest dial numbered 0-8. Underneath it says "Perpetual calendar"
Dial C: The lesser middle modest dial. It has four labels that repeat around the circle: TME (fourth dimension), CHR (cease spotter), L-TM (local time) and ALM (alarm)
Button A: The top button
Push B: The bottom button
Stem In: The stem in its normal position, full pressed into the watch
Stem Mid: The stem in its centre position
Stem Out: The stem pulled out all the way into this third position.
Turning the stem to the right ways giving information technology a one-half turn or so in a clockwise management.
Irresolute modes [edit]
With the stalk in, give the stalk a little twist in either direction. This will cause the hand on Dial C to move, changing the way of the clock from TME (normal time), CHR (using the cease watch), 50-TM (local time) and ALM (setting the warning). Depending on the function, changing modes may automatically alter the big easily on the main face.
Setting the Perpetual Agenda [edit]
Make sure Dial C is set to TME. (See Changing modes to a higher place.)
Set the stalk to mid. Turning it to the left volition set up the engagement. If y'all give it a total plough instead, the date will modify continuously until yous give it another little spin. (Information technology can be hard to get the stem spun just correct to get-go the continuous appointment changing.)
The second hand points to the month. E.thousand., if it is pointing to 1, your watch thinks it is January. If it points at 12, your lookout thinks information technology is Dec. Printing B once to advance the second hand by one month.
Now you have to tell it when the side by side spring year is coming. Dial B controls that. If the paw on Punch B is pointing at 0, then your watch thinks information technology is currently a leap year. If it points at 1, it thinks information technology was a leap year last year. If it points at2, information technology thinks it was a jump year two years ago. And if it points at 3, it thinks it was a leap year three years agone (and that therefore next yr is a jump year).
Button the stem all the way in. Your watch is now set to continue track of dates for the adjacent few decades.
Setting the fourth dimension [edit]
Make sure Dial C is ready to TME. (Run across Irresolute modes above.)
Pull the stem to its out position. The second hand should advance to 12.
Plough the stem to the correct or left to crusade the big hands to turn. (To the right moves the hands clockwise.) The manus in Dial A will turn. Requite the stem a little turn in the other direction to stop the movement. (NOTE: Dial A tells you whether the big hands are showing AM or PM; if you are setting the watch to 7:00pm (or 19:00, if you prefer), for case, the hand on Dial A should be pointing at 19. To make the hands move faster, requite the stem two or three fast turns. (Annotation: This doesn't always work.)
Push the stem in all the style.
Setting the appointment [edit]
Make sure Punch C is set to CHR. (Encounter Changing modes in a higher place.)
Pull the stem to its mid position.
Plow the stem to the left to cause the date number to alter. (Requite the stalk a little plough in the other direction to stop the movement.) The big hands will move as the appointment is set. (Note: This doesn't always piece of work.) To make the dial move faster, requite the stem 2 or three fast turns.
Button the stalk in all the mode.
Using the stopwatch [edit]
The stopwatch, or "chronograph," tin can mensurate up to an hour.
Ready Dial C to CHR. (See "Changing modes" to a higher place.) The second manus volition advance to 12. Button A starts and stops the stopwatch. Pressing Button A continuously resets the stopwatch to 0. Punch B records minutes.
Using local time [edit]
Set Dial C to L-TM. (See Changing modes above.)
Pull the stalk all the way out. Turn the stem left or correct once for each hour you desire to advance or setback the fourth dimension. When you're done, printing the stem dorsum in. And then long equally y'all are in L-TM mode, the watch volition show local time. If you prepare the fashion to TIM, it volition show the time where you lot started.
For example, if you are visiting some place 3 hours ahead of your home, you would go into L-TM manner, pull the stem all the way out, and turn the stem three times to the correct.
NOTE: If in setting local time you become past midnight, the agenda date will change.
Using the alarm [edit]
To set the warning, prepare Dial C to ALM. (Run into "Irresolute modes" above.) The hands move to whatever time the warning had been set to previously.
Pull the stem out fully. Set the time yous desire the alarm to become off past turning the stalk. Check Dial A to make sure y'all accept information technology set for AM or PM. (For example, to fix the alarm to go off at 11:thirty PM, Punch A should point to one tick before 24.) Push the stem in. The alarm is at present set.
To plough off the alarm when information technology is beeping, press Button A.
To un-set the alert so information technology won't go off at its appointed time, set Dial C to ALM and pull out the stalk. Pressing Push A toggles the alarm on and off. You can tell whether information technology'due south on by looking at the second paw. If it is pointing to 41 minutes afterwards the hour, the alarm is on. If it is pointing to 37 minutes after the hr, it is off.

Battery lifetime [edit]
192.127.94.vii 20:x, 12 Nov 2007 (UTC) Is in that location any testify that batteries last longer in an Eco-drive than in a conventional quartz sentinel? (The answer for Kinetics appears to exist "no"...) 192.127.94.7 20:10, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- From experience, i accept endemic and used a Eco-drive piece for the last xv years. Information technology has had 1 servicing to supersede the crystal, and to give the movements a cleaning. The battery itself was not touched and the piece runs almost equally well today as it did when I got it. Seeing all other watches I accept used require a battery change at least every two years.. Yes, the batteries final considerably longer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.79.116.73 (talk) 23:25, xviii July 2022 (UTC)
- The Promaster Eco-Bulldoze AP0440-14F Diver'due south 200 m shown in the article manufactured in may 2000 all the same runs well on its original secondary bombardment equally does another Promaster Eco-Drive AP0440-14F Diver'due south 200 m also manufactured in 2000.--Francis Flinch (talk) 07:03, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- My feel was that the bombardment in my Eco-Drive picket (used in an office environment yr-round) had a life of most 30 months. When sent in and "Reconditioned" it lasted another vi months before ceasing to charge fifty-fifty after whole days in direct sunlight. — Preceding unsigned annotate added past 76.105.173.102 (talk) 04:40, 23 November 2022 (UTC)

- Then, what practise Citizen accuse for maintenance of these watches? My feel of a Seiko perpetual calendar scout is that the battery needs irresolute about every vii years, at a cost of about 50 GBP (80 USD?) Moreover, the mechanism was knackered at the offset change, which price a further 80 GBP. You can't take these to a highstreet shop to change the battery as they are sealed under vacuum. Is this the case for Citizen too? 51kwad (talk) 04:53, 21 August 2022 (UTC)
The article starts: Eco-Bulldoze is the make of solar-powered wristwatches. . . .
I call back an article on (Denizen-nonspecific) solar-powered wristwatches might be more helpful. (This could of grade take a section specific to Citizen's "Eco-Drive", if Denizen got there starting time, does it amend than its rivals, or is otherwise particularly notable.) Unfortunately I have no cognition of the subject, and then tin can't volunteer.
(A quick look at several articles on wristwatch companies doesn't convince me that the writers have much knowledge either. For all I know they have and utilise disinterested sources, just if so they unremarkably don't mention them.) -- Hoary (talk) 01:02, 5 Dec 2007 (UTC)
Notability [edit]
- Merging Eco-Drive to solar powered watch denies the fact that non all Eco-Drive watches were calorie-free powered. There were also temperature departure and hybrid powered models produced that were offered as Eco-Bulldoze watches. The article name regarding fuel efficient driving is currently Fuel economy-maximizing behaviors.
- Citizen shop states; "At nowadays, Citizen is the largest producer of watches and movements in the world. At present Citizen is currently most renowned for their Eco-Bulldoze motility, which allows the sentinel to be powered by light equally opposed to a standard battery (a solar powered watch in other words)." The Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. article points out that the Eco-Drive line is a commercially successful production line. Tough always subject field to personal points of view one tin can make a case that this line of mainly lite powered watches by a major watch producer tin can be regarded as a notable product line since the producer stated that it fabricated upward 80% of their lookout man production in 2022.--Francis Flinch (talk) 13:21, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
